Spinal surgeries

Many people go through some type of surgical procedure during their lives. One of the most complicated, and unfortunate, types of surgeries are those that deal with the human spinal failures and deficiencies.

At an unknown point in time, our species began to use only its legs for motion. Up until then, the spine was parallel to the ground and had no weight to carry. Now when we stand, there is a pressure on the spinal links, nerves and other components.

You probably know someone who suffers from back and spinal problems. Israel’s Mazor Robotics is about to improve the results of spine surgical procedures and improve the quality of life of post surgery patients.

Mazor Robotics

Mazor is the Hebrew word for cure or medical solution. The company is located in the Caesarea industrial zone, about 50 km north of Tel-Aviv. Mazor Robotics is dedicated to the research, development, production, marketing and sales of innovative medical devices for surgical procedures.

Mazor's proprietary technology enables a safer environment for patients, surgeons and staff, by utilizing miniature robotic, imaging and implant technologies.

Mazor management and leading staff are mostly Israelis that have the knowledge, the ability and the will to develop State of the Art medical products for the welfare of all.

SpineAssist®

One of Mazor's unique products is the SpineAssist system. The system, which is a kind of unique robot, was recently recognized by Spine, a professional leading journal in its field, which wrote that the company's SpineAssist is clinically accurate in 98% of implant placements in spinal surgeries.

SpineAssist has been successfully used in the accurate placement of thousands of implants from routine cases to the most complex cases. Many of these cases would not even be attempted without SpineAssist’s guidance. Multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at leading scientific conferences have validated the accuracy, usability and clinical advantages provided by SpineAssist.

FDA Approval

In addition, the American FDA has approved a type of implant that looks like a bolt, but does a much more professional job. The implant carries the name Emerald and is a complimentary component to the excellent SpineAssist system.

It seems that Mazor is about to significantly improve its balance sheets and the more important thing, is about to improve dramatically the success in spinal surgeries and improve the lives of patients around the globe.

Financial aspects

Mazor will be paid $6,000-8000 per implant. In addition it will be paid for the usage of the SpineAssist system. In response to the FDA approval, Mazor shares surged in Tel-Aviv and the market capacity at closure was $57 million. The trading volume was 17 times higher than normal.
