'Five Hours from Paris'
"Five Hours From Paris" isn’t necessarily a romantic comedy, but rather a sweet, mature romantic drama.
Five Hours from Paris isn’t necessarily a romantic comedy, but rather a sweet, mature romantic drama.
The film stars Dror Keren (Adam Resurrected and Aviva, My Love) as Yigal, an Israeli taxi driver who maintains a close relationship with his ex-wife and her husband for his son’s sake.
Yigal loves French music and would love to visit Paris, but one thing stands in his way: his fear of flying. At a parent-teacher interview, he meets his son’s music teacher, Lina (Elena Yaralova) and begins to fall for her.
The catch is that Lina is married to a doctor who hopes to move with her to Canada. But that doesn’t stop Yigal from courting her, claiming he wants nothing more than friendship.
In his debut feature film, director Leon Prudovsky crafts a subtle yet thoughtful romance. These unlikely love birds – Lina’s a music expert who’s lived in several countries, while Yigal has rarely been outside of the Tel Aviv suburb he lives in – see something in each other. Something Lina’s husband of many years (Vladimir Friedman) fails to see.
The movie explores all the nuances of a blooming relationship and allows Keren, one of Israel’s most established actors, to shine in his role.
