Gwyenth Paltrow has donned a variety of hats in her illustrious career: Oscar-winning actress, singer, style icon, macrobiotic advocate, Ms. Coldplay, Kabbalah practitioner and lifestyle guru just to cite a few. Perhaps next on the list would be celebrity chef?

Paltrow’s much-anticipated new cookbook My Father's Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family & Togetherness will hit bookstores on April 13. Her publisher, Grand Central Publishing, released a preliminary description of the culinary tome: “The Academy-Award winning actress and avid foodie shares a sumptuous collection of recipes and gorgeous photographs celebrating the joy of preparing food for loved ones, a passion she learned from her beloved father.”

Her father was director and producer Bruce Paltrow, who passed away in 2002. Paltrow has made mention numerous times over the years of the impact Bruce had on her.

In addition to the cookbook, Paltrow has had a couple forays into the world of culinary arts. In 2007 she and good buddy Food Network chef Mario Batali (who incidentally, wrote the forward for her cookbook) collaborated in the popular PBS series Spain… On The Road, where they tooled around various regions of Spain sampling local cuisine. The next year, Paltrow founded Goop.com, a lifestyle-esque website with a weekly newsletter. If one felt so inclined, one could be edified by Paltrow on the finer points of making “Mexican Dinner, Family Style” or “Quick Roast Chicken & Potatoes”, or even “Vietnamese Salad” (many thanks to the good people of YouTube for providing such a popular video-sharing website).

Perhaps Mario Batali, who has proven to be a viable resource at the Food Network and in the realm of “celebrity chefdom,” will use his power and influence to finagle Paltrow her own culinary show. Remember, you heard it here first.
