Rebecca Addelman

Toronto-born Rebecca Addelman is comedienne extraordinaire. Currently residing in Los Angeles, this funny lady juggles a monthly show, writing humour columns for TORO and The Walrus, TV Sketch comedies, and much more!

Her credits include CURRENT TV’s SuperNews!, IFC’s The Whitest Kids U Know, The Comedy Network’s Cream of Comedy, Much Music’s Video On Trial, and The Comedy Network’s Nikki Funtime Show.

Addelman is currently writing for Canadian sit-com Fugget About It- an adult animated show featuring a New York mob family going into witness protection in Regina. She is also an active member of Amy Poehler’s Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre.

Where do you go when your lacking inspiration?

I go on hikes around Los Angeles. Yeah… I’m that person.

What's your favorite place to travel to?

The California desert.

Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.

I have a weird grunty dog who was found on the streets with his upper teeth missing. I love him very much.

What's your favorite dish? Where do you normally get it?

I’m going to say Montreal bagels. And I go to Ottawa to get them.

What's your favorite movie?

Annie Hall and The Big Lebowski

TV Show?

Curb Your Enthusiasm and Top Chef.

Musician/band?

Neil Young.

If you weren't a comedian, what would you be doing?

In a dream world, I would be a food critic. And travel writer. Or both, combined, forever.

Can you offer a piece of advice to aspiring artists?

Keep doing it.

Do you play any sports?

Yes. Poorly. Other than skiing. I kick ass at skiing.

What are you better at than most other people you know?

Being correct.

What is your biggest weakness?

Food. All of it.

Is there a quote or motto that you live by?

Stop Believin’

If you could work with a specific person, who would it be?

Larry David. Or Tina Fey. Or their bald, blind bastard child.

I have never bathed!

How would you describe your personal style?

Wrinkled.

What is your favorite song to sing?

Whatever song is stuck in my head.

Where is your primary residence? Do you consider this place "home"?

Why do you want to know? Planning to do a little late-night stalking?

Who's your favorite author?

David Mitchell, Jonathan Franzen, Jane Austen

Do you watch reality TV?

Me? No! Never… (she says as she turns off Celebrity Apprentice)

Do you prefer road trips or flying?

The destinations are better when you fly. The turbulence is better when you drive.

What one word would you use to describe yourself?

Spazzy.

What item do you never leave your house without?

Pants.

Tea or coffee? From where?

Coffee. From anywhere in Ethiopia.
