Portman in talks for first post-baby role
Natalie Portman is discussing her first film role since son, Aleph, was born in June
Natalie Portman’s maternity leave might be much shorter than expected. She is currently in talks to star in an upcoming indie drama entitled “Adaline”.
While the actress was pregnant with son Aleph, Portman believed that she would be taking a break from acting to stay at home with her first child.
"I imagine I'm going to want to be home for years, just me and my baby," she told Newsweek in January. Portman went on to mention that her friends were warning her otherwise. "Everybody says after two months you go out of your mind."
Perhaps her friends were right? Just two months after the birth of her child, she’s already considering going back to work.
“Adaline” does seem quite interesting. The drama follows a woman born at the turn of the 20th century that ceases to age after being in an accident. After meeting a man that she falls in love with, she considers giving up her immortality and solo lifestyle. Angela Lansbury will potentially star alongside her.
Natalie Portman just won her first Academy Award for her role in “Black Swan”, only a few months before giving birth to her son. The actress met fiancée, Benjamin Millepied, on the set of the film as well. I think it’s safe to say that the last year has been one of the best in her life… so why stop now?
