Jerry Seinfeld to Temporarily Fill Regis Philbin’s Chair
Jerry Seinfeld will be the first guest host of "Live!" once Regis Philbin says good bye.
"Jerry is a great friend of ours, and a friend of Kelly's, and it doesn't hurt that he's an entertainment icon. It's a great way to kick off the new beginning of our show,” Michael Gelman, executive producer of Live! said in a statement.
Seinfeld will co-host with Kelly Ripa for the first three days prior to Philbin’s departure, from November 21st to 23rd. During that time, guests scheduled to make appearances on the show include Howie Mandel, Kim Cattrall, Jason Segal, Jamie Oliver, and Miss Piggy.
Philbin has a 28 year hosting tenure on Live!, under his belt. The show’s top-brass has yet to name a permanent successor, as Ripa will be testing a number of guest hosts first. She joined Philbin in 2001, after Kathy Lee Gifford bid the show fair adieu.
In the interim once Philbin leaves, the show will be renamed Live! With Kelly.
