Oh Lola! Banned Ad with Dakota Fanning
Marc Jacobs has gotten himself in a bit of the ol’ proverbial hot water in Britain, with a recent perfume ad starring 17-year-old Dakota Fanning. The British Advertising Standards Authority banned Jacobs’ ad for his new fragrance Oh, Lola!, after receiving several complaints, stating that it sexualized a child.

"We noted that the model was holding up the perfume bottle which rested in her lap between her legs and we considered that its position was sexually provocative. We understood the model was 17-years-old but we considered she looked under the age of 16. We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize a child."

"I've been a big fan of Dakota since the first time I saw her in a movie, and we made her a wardrobe in her size when she was 12, which was pretty incredible. When we were speaking about who to use in the Oh, Lola! fragrance ads - I had recently seen The Runaways . Dakota was in it, and I knew she could be this contemporary Lolita, seductive yet sweet,” Jacobs told Women's Wear Daily about his decision to cast Fanning.

Coty UK, which is responsible for producing and distributing the perfume, has stated that it has not received any complaints regarding the ad campaign.
