Steve Jobs File Released by the FBI
The 191-page file was part of a 1991 background search on the late Apple co-founder.
The report was compiled as part of a 1991 background check on Jobs, when he was vying for a place on quondam President George Bush Senior’s Export Council.
The file includes interviews with both Jobs, and individuals who knew him, names being redacted as per usual with these sorts of documents.
“Several individuals commented concerning past drug use on the part o f Mr. Jobs,” states the file.
Jobs use of LSD and marijuana during his high school and college days was previously revealed in Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of the Apple co-founder.
“Several individuals questioned Mr. Jobs’ honesty stating that Mr. Jobs will twist the truth and distort reality in order to achieve his goals,” continues the document.
“Even though he does not consider Mr. Jobs to be a friend, he (Mr. Jobs) possesses the qualities to assume a high level political position,” said an acquaintance when interviewed.
“He characterized Mr. Jobs as a deceptive individual who is not completely forthright and honest,” another acquaintance explained when interviewed.
After such a love-fest, it’s surprising that Jobs was granted the council appointment, which he occupied until May 1993, when Bush Senior finished his presidential term.
