Mac Miller Wins “Woodie Of The Year”
The Jewish Pittsburgh native took home top honors at mtvU’s 2012 Woodie Awards
Mac Miller2012 has been a great year for Mac Miller, and we’re only three months in. His latest album, Blue Slide Park, was the first independent record to reach #1 on the Billboard charts in years, his tracks on YouTube (especially Donald Trump) have received millions of views, and now he has been awarded with mtvU’s top honor of “Woodie Of The Year.”
The 2012 Woodie Awards were held Thursday evening in Austin, Texas. The rapper not only left with “Woodie Of The Year”, but also brought home the “Performing Woodie”.
"I've worked so hard every day for the last five years and winning tonight means people recognize what I'm doing…I'm really thankful. This is a huge win for my fans and me," Miller said during his acceptance speech.
The event featured many live performamces including Santigold, Shrillex, Aoki, Chiddy, Lil Jon, and Mac Miller. Miller hit the stage with some of his fans’ favourites such as “Party on 5th Ave.”, “Smile Back”, “Donald Trump”, and “Loud”.
The 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards, hosted by Pauly D and Dev, will air on MTV Sunday, March 18th.
The Maroon 5 frontman received the BMI President’s Award
