Since baby Aleph was born, Natalie Portman has channeled her energy into motherhood. Although it was recently announced that the actress has been cast in Terrence Malick’s next two films, Portman has made it clear that her top priority is now her son. And it seems her love isn’t just for her own child, but children around the world.

Portman became involved with Free the Children last year. The organization, founded by Thornhill native Craig Kielburger, helps to provide educational opportunities to kids around the world. It was announced today that Portman has become an official ambassador for the organization.

“As a mother and the organization’s newest ambassador, I am grateful to Free the Children for giving me the opportunity to channel my passion and love of children into meaningful action that furthers the education and leadership of young women for years to come. I hope others join me in supporting this important cause,” Portman said in a statement.

Additionally, Portman plans to utilize her connection to Dior to further aid Free the Children. In a new partnership, all proceeds from Dior’s Nude “Grège” n°169 lipstick (launching this Fall) will go towards the organization’s project to provide secondary education for girls in Kenya.
