Jake Gyllenhaal is Heading to the Stage
The Oscar-nominated actor will make his U.S. theatre debut this summer.
Jake Gyllenhaal is no stranger to film. The Oscar-nominated actor has already appeared in more than 20 movies. And as of this summer, fans will be able to see Gyllenhaal in a new platform: the theatre.
Deadline reports that the award-winning actor will be making his American stage debut in a play by Nick Payne called If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet. Gyllenhaal’s character is described as a “heartbroken drifter with the mouth of a sailor.”
The ensemble play is part of Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2012-2013 season. The show will be staged in New York City and performances are set to kick off on Aug. 24. The company’s website claims the limited engagement runs through November.
Playbill points out this won’t be Gyllenhaal’s first time on stage. The 31-year-old star appeared in the West End production This is Our Youth.
Gyllenhaal’s next film is End of Watch, which co-stars Anna Kendrick (50/50, Up in the Air). You can watch him talk about the upcoming movie in the clip below.
