Coachella starts up again this weekend for a final two days filled with incredible music, camping, and partying. Amongst the nearly 150 bands playing are Britain’s indie rock sensation, Yuck.

Yuck’s guitarist and vocalist, Max Bloom, took a few moments to chat with Shalom Life about their upcoming show.

Yuck is playing today (Friday, April 20th) at the Outdoor stage at 3:15 PST. You’d be a fool to miss them.

If you aren’t lucky enough to attend the festival, watch it streaming live at www.coachella.com

You guys formerly played with Cajun Dance Party. How would you describe the differences between CDP and Yuck?

Daniel and I were in Cajun Dance Party when we were 15, until maybe about a year after we finished school. I wasn't really a creative part of the music, and I was playing bass at the time. When we split up, I wanted to form a band where I was playing guitar and making the music, so I guess for me they're just two entirely different situations, I couldn't really compare the two.

Why did you choose ‘Yuck’ as your band name?

Because it sounded like a good word, so we decided to name our band that.

What are your greatest influences- musical or not?

I'm not sure really, anything that makes me excited, music, films, music videos... When we were making the first album, I was pretty much only inspired by bands playing loud music, interesting guitar tones, guitar pedals, different amps, different guitars... I was inspired by people who got interesting noises out of their instrument. I don't really know exactly what inspires me nowadays, it probably changes quite a lot.

If you had to describe Yuck’s sound in three words, what would they be?

Juicy, juicy, juice.

You guys are from London. Have you found it difficult breaking into the music scene outside the UK?

I'm not sure... I don't really know how you could define or measure 'breaking' into a music scene. But I know we've toured pretty hard, 2011 was a year solidly dedicated to touring. We've toured more in America than we have in the UK, so I guess the UK hasn't really been a musical home for us.

What should Coachella audiences expect from your set?

A hologram of myself projected 100 ft into the air.
