Four shows scheduled for Montreal next week featuring French comedian Dieudonné M’Bala M’Bala, who has been found guilty of inciting hatred in France, have been cancelled, according to the CBC.

The decision comes just three days before Dieudonné was scheduled to begin his run at Montreal’s Corona Theatre.

“Due to contractual conflicts, the Corona Theatre has decided to cancel Dieudonné’s performances scheduled for May 14, 15, 16 and 17,” the city's biggest entertainment promoter, Evenko, announced.

Theatre management apologized “for any inconvenience this situation may have caused,” and announced that ticket holders would be refunded.

Earlier this week, Dieudonné’s show in Belgium was interrupted by national police and eventually scrapped, the CBC reported. He has also been convicted of racial defamation in France in the past.

His current show, Rendez-nous Jésus (Give us back Jesus), has been branded “a long litany of anti-Semitic comments” in the Belgian press, according to the National Post

An article in Le Soir in March said it featured “Holocaust denial, slurs against the Talmud” and the comment that Hitler was “a nice boy.”

Luciano Del Negro from the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs told thr CBC “He is no longer funny, particularly given his anti-Semitic vitriol and his racist outbursts.

“The company has put into place a protocol to ensure greater scrutiny of the people requesting the use of their venue.”
