Mark Zuckerberg’s Former Assistant Lands Memoir Deal
Katherine Losse (employee no.51) pens memoir on Facebook’s rise
Cover art for 'The Boys King' by Katherine LosseFacebook employee no.51, Katherine Losse, was not only employed by Facebook in the social networks’ early days, she also served as Mark Zuckerberg’s personal assistant. Losse’s memoir entitled ‘The Boys King: A Journey into the Heart of the Social Network” is set to be released June 26th by Free Press.
“The Boys King” is one of the first insider accounts of the company’s rise and promises to reveal exclusive information about the “hackers, venture capitalists, and ivy league grads who worked (and played) there.
Free Press ensures that the memoir will “reveal what’s really driving both the business and culture of the social network. She (Losse) will answer the biggest question of all: What kind of world is Facebook trying to build, and is it the world we want to live in?”
Katherine Losse started at Facebook as a customer service rep in 2005, eventually being promoted to become Mark Zuckerberg’s personal assistant. Losse acted as Zuckerberg’s personal writer and aided in translating the Facebook interface into other languages. Additionally, Losse is said to have penned many of Zuckerberg’s personal emails.
Losse left Facebook in 2010 on “friendly terms.”
The book in which David Fincher’s “The Social Network” is based upon, “The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook: A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal” by Ben Mezrich, is widely believed to be inaccurate. Very few accounts of Facebook’s rise and inner workings have been published.
“The Boys King” is said to be a truthful account, and therefore has mass appeal due to the world’s ongoing fascination with the social network.
