Aaron Sorkin Discusses Steve Jobs Biopic

Academy Award winning screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin opened up about adapting Walter Issacson’s best-selling biography of Steve Jobs into a script, at the All Things D conference on Wednesday.

“To be honest with you, one of the hesitations I had was that this was a little like writing about The Beatles. There are so many people out there that know him and revere him; I saw a minefield of disappointment. Hopefully, when I’m done with my research I’ll be in the same ballpark as some of the folks in here in terms of their knowledge about Jobs,” Sorkin told conference moderator Walt Mossberg.

“When biographies are turned into movies it is hard to shake the cradle to grave. I probably instead will identify the point of friction that appeals to me and dramatize that,” he continued.

The Sorkin/Issacson project isn’t the only Steve Jobs film to come down the pike, as it was recently announced that Ashton Kutcher has been cast to play the Apple co-founder in the “other” Jobs biopic. No actor has yet to be cast in the title of Sorkin’s film, however, the scenarist was certain about one thing.

“I don’t know who the actor will be, but they are going to have to be smart. There are a lot of things actors can fake. Intelligence is something you cannot fake,” Sorkin opined.

Sorkin won a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for 2010’s Mark Zuckerberg “biopic”, The Social Network, and was nominated for a second for Moneyball in 2011.
