Madonna Thrills Over 30,000 Fans in Israel
“Material Girl” starts MDNA World Tour in Ramat Gan
When it comes to Israel, pop star Madonna is nothing at all “like a virgin”, as she has long held a special bond with the Jewish State, and is a longtime believer of Kabbalah.
But on May 31st, Madonna took her relationship with Israel to a new level as she sent more than 30,000 fans home happy after her thrilling concert at Ramat Gan stadium, close to Tel Aviv.
The show was the kick-off of her MDNA World Tour, the singer’s ninth world tour.
Madonna, dressed in upbeat, colourful costumes for the most part, combined just enough “voguing” with dancing to have the spectators dancing in the aisles.
One of the most popular performances of the evening was her version of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” for which she wore a band conductor costume.
Madonna, who has been to Israel at least three previous times, arrived there a week ago with her children, her boyfriend and a 70-person entourage.
In the middle of her performance, Madonna explained to the audience that she wanted to kick-off the Tour in Israel for one reason which was the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which she announced must stop.
Then, when discussing that items on the stage were representative of Israel and Palestine, the 53-year-old icon explained, “We all bleed the same color, we all want to love and be loved."
When the Tel Aviv leg of her tour comes to a close, it will move to Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Buenos Aires and Cleveland, Ohio.
