Roseanne Barr Loses Green Party Ticket, Runs on ‘Green Tea Party’
The actress, comedian, activist, and politician hopeful plans to run as an independent if she loses the Green Party nomination
Roseanne Barr will not allow losing out the Green Party nomination to get in the way of running for United States President… but first she has to figure out whether she has officially lost or not.
On Thursday, two days after Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein received enough delegates to win the ticket, Roseanne took to Twitter asking, “I wonder if someone can tell me if I am still a candidate for green party presidential nominee or not?”
“Isn’t that something you should know if you want to be the leader of the free world?” a posting on Twitchy responded.
Some other people responded to Roseanne’s posting, suggesting she contact the national office. Another supporter said that Stein would not officially be the Green Party nominee until the convention in Baltimore.
Although Roseanne has absolutely no political experience, the Green Party had considered her a legitimate contender. Her supporters appreciate her outspoken voice and value system, including but not limited to supporting legalization of marijuana and beheading the wealthy that refuse to give up their money.
Roseanne returned to Twitter late Thursday, revealing her plans to run as an independent in something called a “Green Tea Party”. She described a “Green Tea Party” as “an American Woman’s Party based on Green Markets, Sustainability, Social Safety Net/peace.”
Roseanne intends to remain a member of the Green Party although she is running as an independent. She did suggest, however, that the Green Party join other third parties for ballot access.
At this time, Roseanne is still on the Green Party ballot and plans to speak at the convention in Texas this weekend, June 9-10th.
