J.J Abrams, in collaboration with Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot, announced their intention to create ‘Wunderkind’, written by Patrick Alison.

‘Wunderkind’ is an action/thriller set in the 1970’s Cold War. It follows a pair of Nazi hunters, one a young CIA agent who investigates German war criminals, and the other an older gentleman who serves Israel’s Mossad. The two men become intertwined in unlikely circumstances and become partners.

Alison’s script has been on the market since May, and has been labeled a combination of the ‘Bourne’ films and ‘The French Connection’.

Abrams’ company, Bad Robot, will produce ‘Wunderkind’, while other key cast and crew have not been identified since the production is in such early stages.

Abrams is almost finished the untitled ‘Star Trek’ sequel, and will begin work on ‘Wunderkind’ after it’s completion.

Bad Robot recently extended its first-look deal with Paramount Pictures until December 2015. To date, the two companies have released ‘Mission: Impossible 3’, ‘Star Trek’, ‘Cloverfield’, ‘Super 8’, and ‘Morning Glory’.
