Who says youth is wasted on the young?

At the ripe old age of 95, Kirk Douglas, arguably the most successful and popular Jewish actors of all time, not only released his 10th book earlier this month, but he is learning his Haftorah as he readies for his third, and possibly last, bar mitzvah.

An obvious proponent of the “third time is a charm” philosophy, Douglas, the father of Fatal Attraction star Michael Douglas, launched book number ten at the iconic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on June 12 before setting his hand, foot and famous chin in cement where he first did so exactly 50 years ago.

At that time back in 1960, Douglas was promoting the release of Spartacus, a film produced by, and starring, Douglas.

In honour of its 85th anniversary, Grauman’s theater screened Spartacus with a ticket cost of just 25 cents, or what movie-goers had to shell out back in 1960.

Douglas, who celebrated his second Bar Mitzvah at age 83 at Sinai Temple in Los Angeles, plans to do it again at age 96 in December because, as he recently told a television reporter, “I am still looking forward.”
