Sonor scans have revealed that the unknown device, measuring 200ft by 25ft, and raised 10ft above the seabed, could be the base of an anti-submarine weapon.
The device/weapon was constructed with wire mesh, which researchers are assuming could have confused submarine radar leading an enemy craft to crash.
Anders Autellus, former Swedish naval officer and WWII expert, says the structure could have been the base of a weapon constructed to block Russian and British submarine movements and disrupt navigation systems. He explains that the device built of double-skinned concrete and reinforced with wire mesh would “baffle radar”.
“The area was vital to the German war machine because most of the ball bearings for its tanks and trucks came from here. Without them the German army would have ground to a halt,” the Daily Mail quoted one expert as saying. “This device dwarfs anything ever found before and is an important weapons discovery,” the experts said.
The diving team is very excited about their find, but others are a little cynical. Some believe this explanation is simply a cover-up for a UFO discovery.
Some of the questions being asked include “If this is a Nazi base, why did it take them so long to come to this conclusion?”, “Why are the rock samples found above the space ship from the ice age if it’s only 70 years old?” and “the object is placed right in the middle of the sea. How did it get there?”
