The Toronto International Film Festival has revealed some of the movies that will be getting galas and special presentations at this year’s 11-day event. Here’s a list of actors, directors and screenwriters you might be seeing in Toronto judging by the movies premiering at the 2012 edition of TIFF.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in this year’s opening night movie, Looper. The buzzed about thriller takes place in the future, when time travel has been invented but is only available through the black market. The movie also co-stars Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt and Jeff Daniels. Since it’s the opening night film, we have a feeling Gordon-Levitt will probably be there.

Dustin Hoffman

Dustin Hoffman steps behind the camera this year and he’s bringing directorial debut, Quartet, to TIFF. The film, which co-stars Maggie Smith (Harry Potter, Downton Abbey) and Tom Courtenay (Doctor Zhivago, The Golden Compass), tells the story of two divas with long-lasting grudges.

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter last attended the festival in 2010 for The King’s Speech, eventually nabbing an Oscar nod for her role in the critically-acclaimed movie. So we have high expectations for Great Expectations, her latest film to premiere at TIFF. The flick, which is based on a Charles Dickens novel, features a stellar cast that includes Ralph Fiennes (Schindler’s List), Holliday Grainger (Jane Eyre) and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse).

Shia LaBeouf

Transformers’ Shia LaBeouf spent months in Vancouver shooting The Company You Keep. In the flick, Academy Award-winner Robert Redford (who also steps into the directors chair for the flick) plays a civil rights lawyer who goes on the run after a young journalist (played by LaBeouf) finds out he’s a former radical fugitive who’s wanted for murder. The movie’s all-star cast features Stanley Tucci (The Hunger Games), Nick Nolte (The Thin Red Line), Chris Cooper (American Beauty) and Susan Sarandon (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps).

Elizabeth Banks, Adrien Brody and Evan Rachel Wood

These three stars are featured in the documentary Love, Marilyn. The film kicks off 50 years after the death of Marilyn Monroe, when private writings belonging to the silver screen icon are discovered at her acting coach’s home.

Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal (who was in Toronto this summer filming the Canadian flick An Enemy) stars as a Los Angeles police officer who patrols the rough streets of south central. The highly-anticipated action flick co-stars Michael Peña (The Lincoln Lawyer) as Gyllenhaal’s partner. The movie also features America Ferrera (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and TIFF veteran Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air).
