The ultra-Orthodox community in Israel has invented an innovative new line of prescription glasses that most likely will not be available at your local optometrist’s office: Blurry glasses that eliminate immodestly dressed women from their view.

Ultra-Orthodox Jewish law forbids any contact between men and women who are not married. In Israel, the ultra-Orthodox have gone to great lengths to maintain their devout lifestyle- buses and sidewalks separating men and women, walls encouraging women to wear clothes to ‘cover up’, and extremists have even approached women they deem inappropriate asking them to adjust their attire.

Now, the unofficial “modesty patrols” have come up with an easier solution. The special glasses adorn a sticker that provides vision for up to a few meters to prevent accidents and headaches, but blurs everything outside that range.

The glasses are selling for a mere $6, but the actual number of glasses sold has not been made available at this point.
