The Biggest Taste of Limmud Yet
Limmud Toronto hosts an exciting group of Jewish speakers this Sunday.
This Sunday, July 25th, Limmud Toronto is hosting an event at the Prosserman JCC called Taste of Limmud, which brings a variety of programming for both children and adults.
“It’s a semi-regular conference of Jewish learning. Pluralistic, cross-communal, cross-generational, just a really good opportunity for people to come together and learn about Jewish life from a wide variety of perspectives” explains Sharoni Sibony, Festival Chair of Limmud Toronto and a PhD in Jewish American Literature.
“At any given moment there are three or four things happening, so you always feel like you’re missing out on something, which is the best feeling. It’s exciting and frustrating at the same time,” says Sibony.
Lummud Toronto offers educational seminars on a variety of Jewish topics in an exciting learning environment where participants can thrive off each other’s knowledge.
Among the presenters will be Helen Winkler, Israeli Folk Dancer, Eric Stein, Artistic Director of Toronto’s Ashkenaz Festival since 2006, and Rabbi Irit Printz, giving a tantalizing lecture called “Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby!”
Founded in the United Kingdom in 1980, Limmud has grown internationally, educating Jewish communities around the world. In November 2004, thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers, Limmud Toronto held its first seminar at York University. The turnout was incredible, with over 400 participants attending close to 50 sessions. Today, they continue to attract hundreds of Toronto Jews eager to strengthen their Jewish identity.
