Jewish Musician with ALS running for U.S President
American musician and songwriter Lee Abramson will not let ALS get in the way of his Presidential dreams.
Lee Abramson has just announced that he will run as an independent for President in 2012.
Abramson is a Jewish musician and entrepreneur that suffers from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was diagnosed in 2005 at the age of 34, but hasn’t allowed the disease to prevent him from achieving his goals.
Abramson is the first person to write music using ModelTalker, a computerized speech production program. He uses a combination of adaptive technology, live musicians, and electronic technology to create complex original compositions, all with only one finger. His music features electronic textures, synthesizers, piano, bass, and percussion. Due to his disability, he can only write music one note at a time. He uses a number of software programs to assist him including Sibelius, LogicPro, ModelTalker, Dreamweaver, and Assistiveware.
Lee is now dedicating his energy to a Presidential campaign. He believes that he would bring a much needed perspective to the Oval Office. Abramson proposes immediate changes to defense strategy and the overall defense budget, along with a major revision of the tax code, and the elimination of private health insurance companies, which will be replaced by a government healthcare plan.
Abramson doesn’t think that Obama Care is sufficient enough, and instead proposes Americare that will care for everyone for the duration of his or her entire life.
"Americare will pay for the needs of all United States citizens and allow healthcare providers to be compensated according to their skill set. It will replace Medicare, Medicaid, and all private insurance. I believe that all private insurance companies are criminal organizations, because they make profits by delaying and denying care which could in many instances cause unnecessary deaths and suffering to people who rely on private insurance," explained Abramson.
He believes that marijuana should be legalized and sold through authorized dispensaries with all taxes going to the States. He also has strong thoughts on nuclear warfare, tax policy, and crime.
Abramson says that his own battle with ALS has enabled him to gain insight and experience that will bring a fresh new perspective to the office of President. He has understanding and empathy for the people of America and their daily struggles, especially though with medical issues.
