MI6 to Al-Qaeda: Make cupcakes, not war
British intelligence hacks Al-Qaeda site, changes bomb-making instructions with cupcake recipes.
British intelligence agency MI6 believes that the world would be a much safer place if those who are making bombs would instead bake cupcakes, and we couldn't agree more.
According to The Telegraph, the MI6 has hacked an Al-Qaeda online magazine and replaced the bomb-making instructions with cupcake recipes.'
Maybe not quite as spectacular as the Stuxnet virus, "Operation Cupcake" was a cyber-warefare (term used lightly) operation launched by MI6 and the Government Communications Headquarters. The 67-page english language magazine was being used to recruit "lone-wolf" terrorists.
On the page titled "Make a bomb in the Kitchen of your Mom", hackers inserted code for a web page of recipes for "The Best Cupcakes in America" published by the Ellen DeGeneres show.
A similar Pentago operation was blocked by the CIA, who claimed that the magazine is a valuable source of intelligence. Instead, the British staged the attack.
