Spend Your Winter in the Sand of Israel, Not the Snow of Canada
Registration for Taglit Birthright Israel winter season opens September 14th
But, from December to the end of February,
that’s precisely what Canada Israel Experience (CIE) and
Taglit-Birthright Israel are offering to lucky Jewish young adults, 18
to 26 years of age.
Registration for the 2011 Winter Season of Birthright Israel opens on Wednesday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m., and, like previous years, spots aboard the trip will be gone fast, so, if you’re interested, register today.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a decade since the first flight of more than 900 wide-eyed young Jewish pioneers boarded El Al 747s at Toronto’s Pearson Airport, on their way to exciting and unprecedented life-changing adventures in Israel.
Since the inception of the program in 1999, over 14,500 young Torontonians have participated in this unforgettable ten-day educational trip to Israel, funded by the people of Israel through their government, local Jewish communities (in Toronto through UJA Federation) and leading Jewish philanthropists.
One of those 14,500 who took advantage of all Taglit Birthright Israel has to offer, was Melodie Park.
“My daughter Melodie, who was on a recent Taglit Birthright Trip, is home now and she can’t stop talking about what a magical, wonderful, bonding opportunity of a lifetime that she experienced in your care,” says Melodie’s mother, Diana. “It sounds like the trip was jam packed full of sightseeing opportunities and meaningful experiences. Melodie made friends with other kids from Toronto some of which I’m sure will remain friends for years to come. She experienced Judaism in a unique and new way. The time spent with the Israeli soldiers was a highlight for her. She raved about floating in the Dead Sea, rafting in the Jordan River and climbing Masada. I simply can’t think of a better way to show our youth the value of our roots and the importance of commitment to Israel.”
To register for this winter’s Taglit Birthright Israel trip, call the National Office at 1-800-567-4772, the Toronto office at 416.398.6931, or visit Israelforfree.com or email ciec@ujafed.org
