Benetton Campaign Reveals Truth About Netanyahu and Abbas' Relationship
Shalom Life has learned that there is much more to the controversial ad campaign introduced by Benetton’s Unhate Foundation, titled, appropriately, “Unhate”.
While the campaign, showing photographs of religious and political leaders engaged in passionate kisses with each other, raised the ire of many by including a photo of the Pope kissing an imam, new light has been shared on the image of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu locking lips with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Apparently, the image of Netanyahu and Abbas was not created for this ad campaign, but rather, the photo, which clearly shows the two leaders in a passionate lip lock, was an untouched, genuine photo of the two men, taken last month when they were both in New York to address the United Nations.
“Look, whatever the cost of peace, the Israelis are willing to do it,” read a statement from Netanyahu’s office. “The two men had accidentally met in a bar in a New York Hotel, and before you knew it, one thing led to another, and after a couple of Scotches, Mr. Abbas came onto the Israeli prime minister who, thinking of only peace, decided to succumb to the PA president’s advances.”
The photo of the two men kissing was apparently taken early the next morning as they were about to leave Mr. Abbas’ hotel room.
As a result of their “magical night together,” Mr. Abbas has decided to listen to the prime minister’s latest suggestions for achieving peace in the Middle East, although, the only “state” Abbas appears to be interested in these days, is love.
“Perhaps it’s time that I admit my true feelings for Mr. Netanyahu, and the Jewish people,” said Abbas in a news conference after the photos were released to the public. “Perhaps, I doth protest too much. I have always enjoyed the company of the Jews, and I need to sit down, forget all about this U.N. nonsense, and find a way to co-exist with them. After all, they are our neighbours. Maybe adjoining rooms is the way to go!”
The above article is fictional. If only peace was so easy to achieve.
