According to Israel’s Shin Bet, the country’s domestic intelligence unit, which cancelled a gag order on the issue, the cell was planning attacks and kidnappings, against both Israeli soldiers and civilians.
"During a joint Shin Bet and army operation, ten members of Islamic Jihad have been arrested over the past two months in Jenin," in the northern West Bank, read a statement released by the Shin Bet.
The cell is controlled by the group's headquarters in Syria and the Islamist Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.
The cell is also reported to have been in communication with Islamic Jihad in Gaza and received large amounts of cash from Islamic Jihad in Syria to buy weapons.
Members of the cell were charged in December with affiliating with an illegal terror group and transferring enemy funds, as well as various weapons charges.
