Netanyahu Uses Facebook to Reach Arabs Across the Globe
Bibi uses first of its kind chat session
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to the web on January 31st, in a half-hour Facebook chat session with Arabs from across the globe in an attempt to tell them the truth about himself and Israel, and get past the stereotypes.
The brainchild of Ofir Gendelman, the prime minister’s spokesman for the Arabic media, translated questions that landed on Netanyahu’s Arabic Facebook page before typing Netanyahu’s answers in Arabic.
Among the topics covered were the diplomatic process with the Palestinians, Iran, Israel’s take on the Arab Spring, and Israel’s ties with other Arab countries.
"I am ready at this moment to go to Ramallah and begin talks with Abu Mazen without preconditions," was Netanyahu’s response to a question about the current relationship between Israel and the Palestinians and the prospect of a lasting peace. "To my regret, Abu Mazen is not prepared to come to my office. I think that this is a mistake."
